Reginae Carter made it clear she’s fiercely protective of her dad, Lil Wayne, following some harsh criticism of his latest album, Tha Carter VI. During a live stream on June 15th, the 26-year-old didn’t hold back when a viewer slammed the album, calling it “trash.” Reginae wasn’t having it.
She quickly fired back, pointing out that just because a song doesn’t inspire viral TikTok dances, it doesn’t mean it lacks quality or appeal. “This is what I hate about y’all kids. The fact that y’all can’t get on TikTok and do a little dance to it doesn’t mean it’s trash, babes!” she said, laughing. She stressed that not all music is meant for social media trends, saying, “The fact that you can’t do a lil’ one-two, lil’ viral moment for it, that doesn’t mean it’s trash.”
Reginae praised her father’s work, highlighting his skill and the wide-ranging appeal of the album. She described the music as “universal,” mentioning that it fits perfectly in places like malls and video games like NBA 2K. According to her, the album offers much more than just a soundtrack for fleeting internet moments.
For those who don’t get it, Reginae had a blunt message: “If you can’t understand it, move in silence and get the f**k outta here.” She clearly believes Lil Wayne’s artistry goes beyond trends and deserves respect for its depth and craftsmanship. Reginae’s strong defense reminds fans that Wayne’s legacy as a lyricist is still very much alive, regardless of what social media says.
