Roddy Ricch has accused a storage hunter of trying to extort him for $50,000 over a Grammy Award he misplaced. The award, which Roddy won in 2019 for Best Rap Performance with Nipsey Hussle and Hit-Boy for “Racks in the Middle,” ended up in the hands of YouTuber Prieto Hunters. Prieto claimed he acquired the Grammy after purchasing a storage unit for $280 at an auction. While the Grammy was eventually returned, Roddy has since alleged that Prieto tried to leverage the situation for financial gain.

During an Instagram Live session, Roddy explained how the award went missing. “My personal assistant ended up getting into a near-fatal accident and had a severe brain injury. Me going back and forth to Miami, I just put my stuff in storage for safe-keeping. Him getting into that accident is how that shit got mishandled.”

Roddy claimed he tried to resolve the situation amicably with the storage hunter, offering money in exchange for the Grammy’s return. “We offered him something but he basically said the money we were offering him weren’t shit. I was like, ‘Bruh, I got 10 bands for you.’ He was like, ‘That ain’t shit. I want $50,000.’ First, he asked for an AP, then he asked for $50,000.”

Prieto, however, denied the extortion claims, writing on Instagram, “I did not ask for that… I returned it at NO COST and want nothing to do with them. I want no compensation.” He later shared a video, stating he only wanted a thank-you or a video of the exchange, adding, “This has turned into a nightmare… All of my family is getting affected by this.”

The Grammy was ultimately returned in a police station exchange, ending the ordeal.
