Jake Paul, the controversial influencer-turned-boxer, made headlines last November by defeating boxing icon Mike Tyson in a unanimous decision. Despite the buildup, the fight was underwhelming, yet it managed to break records by crashing Netflix. Tyson, who revealed he was in poor health before the bout, started strong but struggled to keep up with the younger Paul after the opening rounds.

Now, a potential rematch looms, with reports suggesting Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority chief, Turki Alalshikh, has offered Tyson a staggering $700 million for another fight—on one condition. Mike Tyson must knock out Paul within three minutes to claim the prize. The offer, first hinted at by former congressional candidate Jack Lombardi II, has yet to be confirmed by Tyson, Paul, or Alalshikh. For Tyson to accept, many speculate he would require a guaranteed payout regardless of the match’s outcome.

The original fight set a Texas combat sports record, generating a gate of $17.8 million at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the Dallas Cowboys’ home turf. Most Valuable Promotions reported an expected crowd of 70,000 for the event, which also featured a high-profile matchup between undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. The night not only showcased a mix of established and emerging talent but also underscored Paul’s growing influence in the boxing world.

Paul, now 27, boasts a surprising 10-1 record, with wins over notable names like Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz, and Anderson Silva—all former MMA champions. Critics doubted his legitimacy as a boxer, but his performances have silenced some skeptics. Meanwhile, Tyson, 58, remains one of the sport’s most legendary figures. The former undisputed heavyweight champion dominated the ring from 1987 to 1990, achieving a remarkable 37-0 record with 33 knockouts during his peak.

However, age and time away from professional fighting cast doubt on Tyson’s ability to compete at a high level. He hasn’t fought professionally since 2005, apart from a 2020 exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. If the rematch with Paul happens, it will be under modified conditions: eight two-minute rounds instead of the standard 10 or 12, and fighters will use heavier 14-ounce gloves for added protection.

Paul, eyeing a possible world title shot against heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, may see another Tyson fight as a chance to further solidify his boxing career. For Tyson, this could be an opportunity to remind fans of his legendary status—or a final chapter in his storied career. Whether the rumored rematch materializes or not, the prospect has reignited debate and excitement across the boxing world.
