Rest in peace to a 5th grade student. RaNiya Wright passed away after suffering severe injuries stemming from a school fight.
It’s no secret that parents send their children to school to get an education. Unfortunately, for these parents, this school day took an unexpected turn. The 5th grade student, was reportedly airlifted from Forest Hills Elementary School. She was in the nurses office “unconscious but not breathing” before she was airlifted. She had gotten into a physical altercation with another student. It has not been reported on what caused the incident. Wright’s mother took to Facebook to suggest that this was a case of bullying, “this is what bullying cause…Stay work parents.”
After suffering multiple injuries, Wright was unresponsive and in critical condition since Monday. The young girl sadly passed away on Wednesday, according to reports. The other students who were involved in the altercation were suspended pending investigation.
Wright was described as a “wonderful student.” She also enjoyed playing basketball, and being a big sister. She was 10-years-old.
We are keeping RaNiya’s family, friends, and loved ones in our prayers.
Walterboro pastors and community members gathered Thursday night to hold a vigil in memory of a 10-year-old girl who died this week following a fight at her school.
