Shannon Sharpe had been accused of several sexual assault accusations and was hit with a $50 million lawsuit, the New York Post reports.
According the to the suit that was filed in a Nevada state court, the Pro Football Hall of Famer is being accused of comitting assault, sexual assault, battery, and sexual battery, and engaged in the intentional infliction of emotional distress in what is described as a “rocky consensual relationship” that went on with a woman for almost two years.
The anonymous plaintiff, who is represented by Micah Nash and Tony Buzbee, alleges that “Sharpe brutally sexually assaulted her several times at the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025.” The suit also alleges that the ESPN personality Sharpe threatened to kill her on multiple occasions, was “manipulating and controlling,” and “repeatedly threatening to brutally choke and violently slap her.”
“One time specifically, he was yelling at her while there was a firearm visible in his room,” the complaint states. “Terrified for her safety, Plaintiff tried sharing her location with friends from her iPhone—just in case. But Sharpe saw her doing this. The moment he realized what she was doing, he grabbed her by the neck and told her, “If you ever do that again, I will f–king kill you.”
Jane Doe also claims in the suit that Sharpe filmed them having sex without her consent and shared the footage without her knowledge. Additionally, the plaintiff alleges that she sought to end the relationship because of Sharpe’s infidelity, believing that they were in an exclusive relationship.
“A woman can say ‘yes’ to consensual sexual relations with a man ninety-nine times, but when she says ‘no’ even once, that ‘no’ means no,” the complaint reads.
“Defendant Shannon Sharpe, a man who is accustomed to getting what he wants, completely fails to understand this basic concept. After many months of manipulating and controlling Plaintiff — a woman more than thirty years younger than he — and repeatedly threatening to brutally choke and violently slap her, Sharpe refused to accept the answer no and raped Plaintiff, despite her sobbing and repeated screams of ‘no,” the suit continued.
Sharpe is also accused of visiting the plaintiff at his estate at Beverly Glen several times, where he would “psychologically, emotionally, and physically control her.”
“This cycle of control, fear, and submission became routine,” the complaint states. “Yelling at her, controlling her, forcibly grabbing her by the neck when he got upset, saying he was going to ‘kill her,’ and asserting dominance became the norm.
The timing of the lawsuit couldn’t be worse for Sharpe, as Front Office Sports reported that he is expected to sign a deal worth $100 million for his popular “Club Shay Shay” podcast after his contract with Colin Cowherd’s The Volume podcast network recently ended.
Sharpe has not publicly addressed the allegations.
