Sherri Shepherd is speaking out about Hollywood’s latest red carpet trend, and she has a message for Megan Thee Stallion. On a recent episode of Sherri, the talk show host praised Megan’s talent but expressed disappointment over her Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty look.
“Megan Thee Stallion, I love you. I do,” Shepherd said. “But I’m so upset because God gave you a legitimate gift. You are amazing with your lyrical rhymes and how smart you are.” However, she questioned the rapper’s choice to wear a dark green gown with minimal coverage, pointing out that young girls are watching and often imitate celebrities.
Shepherd expanded on her concerns, calling attention to other stars who showed up in similarly revealing outfits. She mentioned Julia Fox’s sheer dress and Zoë Kravitz’s gown, which left little to the imagination. “When I tell you the ladies bared it all on the red carpet, it was just almost too much to show on daytime TV,” she said, noting that the outfits had to be blurred on her show.
Shepherd also reflected on a time when style left more to the imagination, recalling how older generations encouraged a bit of mystery in fashion. “Nobody gets to use imagination,” she added.
This isn’t the first time Shepherd has addressed this trend. She brought up Bianca Censori’s barely-there Grammys outfit, noting how uncomfortable she looked standing in front of a crowd of men. She warned that while celebrities have security, young fans following these trends might put themselves in dangerous situations.
Reassuring her audience that she wasn’t trying to shame anyone, Shepherd emphasized that her concerns were about protecting the next generation. “These young women are our future,” she said. “Auntie Sherri has spoken.”
