Social media star and reality TV personality Rolling Ray, born Raymond Harper, has died at the age of 28. His passing, confirmed by family and friends, came just one day before what would have been his 29th birthday on September 5, 2025.
Rolling Ray’s mother, Sazola Nay, shared the heartbreaking news in a Facebook post: “It is with a heavy heavy heart that I let you all know that my son Ray Ray iamrollingray has gone home to be with the Lord…”
The Zeus Network, where Rolling Ray appeared on series including Bobby I Love You, Purrr and The Conversation, also issued a public tribute on Instagram: “Gone way too soon. Your Laughter, Light & Loving Spirit will Live on FOREVER!”
Born in Missouri on September 5, 1996, Rolling Ray first captured public attention through appearances on MTV’s Catfish: Trolls and Divorce Court, before becoming a staple on Zeus Network reality programming. He coined the catchphrase “purr”, which went viral and became a widely used slang term among Gen Z and social media users.
Living with paralysis from a childhood accident, Ray proudly described himself as the “most famous boy inna wheelchair” and used his platform to advocate for the Black, disabled, and LGBTQ+ communities. His authenticity, sense of humor, and bold confidence made him an internet icon with more than 440,000 followers on Instagram and a growing presence on TikTok.
Rolling Ray endured several health battles in recent years, but despite those challenges, he remained resilient and vocal, often directly addressing rumors about his health with his signature humor.
A cause of death has not been determined at this time. May he rest peacefully.
