The record-breaking success of Spanish artists like Bad Bunny, Peso Pluma, and more has made noticeable shifts in the music market – according to Luminate’s 2023 year-end music report. Spanish-language music is the second most consumed language in the English market as English-language content has declined 3.8% since 2021 based on the measurement of the top 10,000 songs.

According to new reports, while English still makes up 88.8 percent of U.S. music consumption, Spanish-language music now makes up 8.1 percent. Latin music consumption in the US grew 24.1% with 19.4 billion on-demand audio streams in 2023.

Bad Bunny is one of the biggest touring artists in recent years, and his upcoming Most Wanted tour is highly anticipated. Peso Pluma just broke Bad Bunny’s Hot Latin Songs record on the Billboard charts, so his impact is sure to follow.

It is becoming evident that an increasing number of people who do not speak Spanish are now listening to Spanish music.

Research now shows that 25% of music listeners in the United States who are 13 years and above reported that they listen to Spanish music, despite the fact that Hispanics comprise only 19% of the total population. Spanish-language music in the U.S. has grown gradually with the rise of streaming, a larger Latin population, and greater cultural acceptance of diversity.
