Prior to CNN obtaining video of Sean “Diddy” Combs attacking Cassie Ventura, Surviving R. Kelly Executive Producer, Dream Hampton says she begged him to admit to his alleged confrontations. Speaking with Rolling Stone, Hampton says she firmly believed the allegations Ventura made in her explosive lawsuit. In Hampton’s opinion, she thought because of her relationship with Diddy and the late Notorious B.I.G., he would “listen to her.”

“And I said, ‘Puff, I’m not trying to Olivia Pope you at all, [but] I think that you’re done and that it’s time to tap out,’” she began. After not getting a response, Hampton said she left the disgraced hitmaker a voice note: “What you need to do, what we need…What we’ve needed really, since Mike Tyson raped Desiree Washington, is one of y’all motherfuckers to just say, ‘I did this. And I’m going to spend the rest of my life, and that includes financial restitution, trying to make this right.’” Before her career in film and television, Hampton had been a longtime writer for The Source.

“it’s time to tap out,” HAMPTON told the disgraced mogul

Last year, Cassie sued the Diddy and accused him of rape, physical abuse, and human trafficking. Nearly one day later, the pair settled out of court for an undisclosed amount. The former couple were together for 11 years, from 2007 until 2019. One of Ventura’s actions was corroborated after CNN obtained footage of an alleged altercation between them in March 2016. The surveillance video sees a shaken Cassie swiftly moving down the hallway to the elevator.

However, it’s not long before Diddy — with a towel around his waist — runs down the hallway after Ventura and begins physically assaulting her. Following the video’s release Diddy hopped on Instagram to offer an apology. More recently, Rolling Stone released its scathing exposé about his dark past. The expose explores allegations of violence that go back as far as Combs’ days at Howard University.
