SZA’s reserved reaction—or lack of one—to questions about Drake’s kissing skills became a highlight of her appearance alongside Keke Palmer and Issa Rae on the latest episode of Hot Ones.
The trio participated in a spicy game of “truth or dare” to promote their new comedy film, One of Them Days. The playful banter escalated as the questions—and the heat—intensified.
The exchange began when Palmer, feigning hesitation, posed a bold question to SZA: “Is Drake a good kisser?” Rae, quick to stir the pot, reacted with mock outrage as SZA braced herself for the interrogation. “That’s why I said, ‘F*** you in advance,’” she shot back, dodging the question with humor. SZA’s refusal to answer only fueled Palmer and Rae’s persistence. “She’s not gonna answer,” Palmer declared, to which Rae teased, “She already did.” Palmer joked, “He must have been terrible!” before pressing again, “Was he a good kisser?”
SZA, still avoiding a direct response, nibbled on a wing before remarking, “We were children.” Rae, ever the instigator, responded, “That was the sound of lies.” SZA clarified, “2009—we were children, real s***.” Her co-hosts weren’t ready to let it go, with Palmer insisting, “It’s a simple good or not good,” and Rae adding, “The fact that you won’t say is very telling.”
Though the segment was filled with teasing and dramatic reactions, it was all in good fun, showcasing the chemistry among the stars. Their camaraderie extends beyond the Hot Ones set, as evidenced by the success of their film.
According to Entertainment Tonight, One of Them Days—produced by Rae and penned by Syreeta Singleton, known for HBO Max’s Rap Sh!t—earned $11.6 million during its opening weekend. With projections reaching $14 million over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, the film’s success underscores the trio’s undeniable talent and mutual rapport.
As the back-and-forth continued, SZA jokingly accused the pair of ganging up on her. “Y’all are trying to double-team me into guilt,” she quipped. Then, shifting the spotlight, she turned to Rae with a playful jab: “Why didn’t we know you were married, Issa?”
