Could an album with SZA and Kenrick Lamar be in the works?
The two acclaimed artists have been featured on each other’s songs including SZA making two appearances on Kendrick’s GNX album. Before that, “All the Stars” and “Doves in the Wind” became fan favorites from the dynamic duo.
During an interview on Sherri, SZA spoke about the possibility of making a joint LP with Kendrick.
“I would love that,” SZA told Sherri Shepherd. “I would love that! I think that would be amazing. He’s such a genius.”
“And part of his genius is him being so elusive and so mysterious, and I love it. I don’t know what’s going on as much as you don’t know what’s going on,” she continued.
The Grammy-winning singer also shared the creative process behind the making of “Gloria” and “Luther” on GNX.
“When “Luther” came on, I said, ‘Okay, that’s the vocals we’re using, period,’’ and the same with “Gloria”–I said, ‘Okay,’ and I love that,” she said.
She also expressed how Kedrick helped her evolve as an artist when they both were on Top Dawg Entertainment.
“He’s a huge part of my fumble and finding era because I’m just trusting all of his expertise and being thrust into these moments and spotlight and saying yes,” SZA explained. “He’s so good at saying yes but staying grounded, so I’m just like, ‘Teach me, sensei, what you know.’”
As HOT97 previously reported, SZA will hit the road on a stadium tour in April on Kendrick’s Grand National Tour. SZA said she’s anticipating “tap into the cosplay of it all” and getting “lost in the moment.”
