As T.I. moves closer to the release of Kill The King, another matter remains unresolved: a legal dispute that has followed him through several years of court proceedings. Reports indicate that the Atlanta rapper is asking a federal judge in Los Angeles to dismiss the final remaining claim in a lawsuit filed by Sabrina Peterson. While much of the case has already been pared down, one allegation continues to move through the system.

That claim centers on a July 2025 Instagram video promoting a comedy show in Washington, D.C. Peterson alleges the post caused emotional distress, arguing that comments made in the video were directed toward her. In the clip, T.I. says: “It’s a beautiful day to not spread lies and to not be negative. It’s a beautiful day, man, to mind your business.” Peterson viewed the remarks as threatening, while T.I. has consistently disputed that interpretation.

Court filings submitted on June 15 ask U.S. District Judge Fernando M. Olguin to remove the claim from the case. T.I.’s attorney, J. Cameron-Banks, argues that Peterson’s updated responses introduce no significant new evidence and instead revisit allegations connected to events she has previously referenced from 2007 and 2014. The defense maintains that the emotional distress allegation is not supported by the record currently before the court.

T.I. Moves to Dismiss Final Claim

Attorneys for the rapper also argue that Peterson was never identified in the Instagram video. Their filing notes that only three of roughly 45,000 comments, likes, and interactions referenced Peterson by name. On that basis, they contend the post does not meet the legal standard necessary to support an emotional distress claim.

The dispute first entered public view in 2021 after Peterson accused T.I. of pointing a firearm at her during an altercation involving his assistant. T.I. and his wife, Tiny, denied the allegation. Since then, multiple claims have been dismissed, leaving the emotional distress allegation as the lone remaining issue. A hearing on the dismissal request is scheduled for July 30 at Los Angeles’ First Street Courthouse.
