Tina Knowles recently faced backlash after liking a post on social media related to the shocking rape allegations against her son-in-law, Jay-Z. The post detailed a lawsuit filed by an anonymous woman, sparking fans’ curiosity and criticism. Tina quickly addressed the situation, stating she was hacked. “As you all know, I do not play about my family. So if you see something uncharacteristic of me, just know that it is not me!” she explained, adding, “Stop playing with me!!!!” She also quoted the Bible, saying, “No weapon formed against my family shall prosper.”
Tina’s defense aligns with her protective nature, as she’s often spoken about her family-first approach. Reflecting on the incident, she shared on the Rin-Through With Vogue podcast the challenges of navigating social media as a protective mother. “I’m a protector of my kids, and I just feel like that’s my job,” she said. “My kids are always like, ‘Mama, just ignore that.’ But it gets to the point where I’m just like, ‘I’m sorry. This is enough.’ Because imagine being a mother and somebody’s lying on your kid. It’s hard to watch.”
Tina admitted she occasionally likes posts involving her family without fully reading the details. She also recounted a lesson from Jay-Z, who advised her to double-check her social media activity. “Jay will say, ‘Listen, if you’re gonna read somebody, at least spell your words right. Don’t misspell your words, Ma. Take your time and go over and spellcheck your stuff!’” While she values the advice, Tina joked she doesn’t always have time for such care.
Given recent events, a dedicated social media team might be a wise move for Tina to avoid similar incidents in the future.
