Too Short doesn’t think Kendrick Lamar needs to perform “Not Like Us” at Super Bowl LIX. The Bay Area rap icon believes the Grammy-winning diss track has already left its mark and doesn’t need the added spectacle of the halftime show.
While attending the Hollywood Virgin book launch in West Hollywood, Short shared his thoughts after performing at a fundraiser for the L.A. Fire Department. The event carried personal weight for him, following the tragic murder of his brother. Between performances, he took a moment to talk sports.
Short made it clear he’s rooting for anyone but the Kansas City Chiefs. As a devoted Raiders fan, he hasn’t forgotten how Patrick Mahomes’ team dominated the AFC West this season. His loyalty runs deep, and he admits to feeling some frustration this year.
Despite that, he’s confident Kendrick will deliver an unforgettable halftime show. However, he believes leaving “Not Like Us” off the setlist would be an even bigger statement.
In his view, the track has already done its damage. Rather than reigniting the Drake feud on football’s biggest stage, Short thinks Lamar should let the song live rent-free in people’s minds.
That said, the odds aren’t in his favor. Kendrick racked up multiple Grammys for the record and even used it as his entrance music during a pre-show interview. Whether it makes the final setlist remains to be seen, but fans are watching closely.
