Reports indicate that Travis Scott took the stage during the College Football Playoff National Championship Halftime Show, unveiling a brand-new track.
At halftime of the Notre Dame-Ohio State matchup, Scott took the stage following his hints leading up to the game. During his set, the rapper thrilled the crowd by debuting “4×4,” marking his first solo release since his chart-topping Utopia album in 2023. Additionally, Scott is channeling all net proceeds from two new merch items—a T-shirt and zip-up hoodie—into Direct Relief’s California Wildfire Response Fund, paying tribute to Los Angeles’ heroic first responders.
Since the wildfires ignited on Jan. 7, more than 12,000 homes and buildings have been reduced to rubble, with over 25 lives lost. Whether the track is a standalone release to aid wildfire relief or a teaser for his eagerly awaited follow-up to Utopia remains uncertain. In an interview with Cultured last year, he revealed he was deep in “album mode,” hinting that “4×4” might serve as the opening chapter to Scott’s yet-untitled fifth studio project.
Victory Boyd Sues Travis Scott, SZA, Future Over Alleged Song Theft
In related updates, Travis Scott has been named in a lawsuit involving his collaboration with Future and SZA on “Telekinesis.”
Roc Nation artist Victory Boyd filed a lawsuit in federal court on January 8. She claims Scott, SZA, Future, and Audemars Piguet exploited parts of her song without authorization. Boyd asserts that in November 2019, she composed “Like The Way It Sounds” and presented it to Kanye West. According to her, Ye, though not named in the lawsuit, introduced the track to Scott, who later passed it along to Future and SZA, ultimately leading to the creation of “Telekinesis.”
The lawsuit alleges Scott’s “Telekinesis” copies lyrics from Boyd’s “Like The Way It Sounds,” with Boyd claiming Audemars Piguet used the song in an ad despite her refusal. Boyd argues in her lawsuit that, as of the filing date, she’s officially credited as a composer on Spotify—a detail she attributes to the very individuals she’s now suing. Furthermore, she contends she was recently presented with an offer for an eight percent share in the song.
