Travis Scott has officially eclipsed Kendrick Lamar to claim the title of the highest-grossing solo hip-hop tour in history.
The record-breaking achievement stems from Scott’s Circus Maximus Tour, launched in support of his chart-topping album UTOPIA. Over 78 shows across four continents, the tour amassed nearly $210 million in revenue, selling 1.7 million tickets since its kickoff in October 2023, according to Billboard.
Previously, Kendrick Lamar’s Big Steppers Tour held the record with $110 million in earnings. While Scott now reigns supreme among solo rap tours, he trails behind the staggering $320 million grossed by Drake, J. Cole, and 21 Savage on their co-headlining It’s All A Blur Tour.
This marks a booming era for hip-hop on the global stage. Artists like 50 Cent and Nicki Minaj have also shattered milestones. Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 Tour raked in over $100 million, making her the first female rapper to surpass that figure with a single tour. She joins an elite group of Black female artists to achieve this feat, alongside icons such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, SZA, and Tina Turner.
Scott’s recent accomplishment reflects a dramatic leap from his previous Astroworld – Wish You Were Here Tour, which grossed $63 million from 57 performances. In comparison, Circus Maximus tripled its revenue while adding just 21 additional shows. This latest trek was also his first major global tour in five years, underscoring his staying power and growing influence in live entertainment.
Despite wrapping up his monumental tour, Scott shows no signs of slowing down. He is slated to headline and curate next year’s Coachella Festival, held April 11–13 and April 18–20. Branded as “Travis Scott Designs The Desert,” his participation promises a groundbreaking experience. According to the event’s announcement, Scott’s Cactus Jack desert takeover will feature an “immersive and experiential world.”
Scott is set to perform on both Saturdays of the festival, where he will debut a new musical chapter. Sharing the stage with acts like Post Malone, Green Day, and Lady Gaga, the Sicko Mode rapper continues to cement his legacy as a cultural trailblazer, redefining the boundaries of music and live performance.
