Trey Songz recently saw an $11.2 million judgment against him dismissed by a Las Vegas judge. Clark County District Court Judge Jacob Reynolds granted Neverson’s legal team 30 days to respond to the lawsuit, which accused the singer and his security team of assaulting a man at The Cosmopolitan in November 2021.
The plaintiff, Tyrelle Dunn, alleged he was attacked while trying to rescue his wife, who claimed she was held against her will in a hotel room. According to Dunn, the assault left him with severe injuries, including fractures to both eye sockets, facial trauma, and lasting emotional scars.
He stated in court documents that the incident profoundly impacted his life, forcing him to miss over a month of work as a Maryland Capitol police officer. Dunn’s lawsuit also accused The Cosmopolitan of negligence for its role in the incident.
Neverson has denied all allegations, claiming he only defended himself and that any altercation with Dunn occurred outside his involvement. His attorneys argued that the initial default judgment was improperly obtained, citing that the lawsuit was not properly served under Nevada or California law. They maintained that Neverson only learned of the case in late 2024 through social media messages from fans referencing news coverage of the judgment.
The lawsuit initially sought damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and punitive penalties amounting to over $11 million. Dunn’s claims included graphic details of the alleged assault, which he said occurred after hearing his wife screaming for help. Court records also describe a disturbing series of events in which Dunn’s wife was reportedly escorted to a hotel room, prevented from leaving, and had her phone confiscated.
This case adds to a string of legal troubles for Neverson. Over the years, he has faced numerous allegations of sexual and physical assault. In June 2023, a woman filed a lawsuit accusing him of exposing her in public during an event. Other accusations include a 2016 sexual assault claim and incidents involving violent confrontations with law enforcement and event staff.
Neverson, a prominent R&B artist best known for hits like “Bottoms Up” and “Say Aah,” continues to dispute these allegations. His legal team contends that many of the accusations are fabrications or misrepresentations. Despite avoiding criminal charges in several cases, these legal battles have cast a shadow over his career and public image.
