Allison Holker has addressed criticism for openly discussing her late husband Stephen “tWitch” Boss’ alleged drug use and incorporating these revelations into her upcoming memoir. The book, This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light, set for release on February 5, aims to provide insight into her personal journey and her life with Boss.

In a heartfelt message shared on her Instagram Story, Holker explained her motivations for writing the memoir. “To fans of Stephen, our family, and friends, I want to make it clear that my intention in writing this book is to share my story and a part of my life with Stephen to help others,” the dancer wrote. She acknowledged the lingering uncertainty surrounding her husband’s struggles. “Just like you, I never fully understood what happened, and even as I piece things together, I know I will never have all the answers.”

Holker, 36, expressed her hope that by sharing their story, she might help others recognize warning signs in themselves or their loved ones. “Maybe they can catch some of the red flags I missed before it’s too late,” she added. Over the past year, she has consulted with mental health professionals and organizations to better understand these warning signs and incorporate that knowledge into her book.

Proceeds from the memoir will support the Move with Kindness Foundation, which Holker established in memory of Boss after his death by suicide in December 2022. “My hope is that we won’t lose another husband, brother, father, or friend to suicide,” she said. “If Stephen had the choice, I believe he would want his story told if it could save even one life.”

Boss, known for his work on Step Up 3D and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, died at the age of 40 on December 13, 2022. His body was found in a motel near the Encino, California home he shared with Holker and their three children: Wesley, 16, Maddox, 8, and Zaia, 5.

Shortly after his passing, Holker discovered a shoebox containing substances, including mushrooms, while cleaning out their closet. “It was a deeply triggering moment,” she told People in a recent interview. “There were things I found that I didn’t know existed. It was alarming to realize how much was happening that I wasn’t aware of.”

The memoir will also feature some of Boss’ journal entries, offering further insight into his life and struggles. Through her writing, Holker hopes to foster understanding, raise awareness about mental health, and honor her husband’s legacy.
