According to reports, Vybz Kartel has announces plans to release a collaboration track with Bronx legend, Cardi B. In a recent interview, Kartel praised Cardi, stating, “I love Cardi! We got a song coming out next year.” “We are actually in the process of writing it. Even if I have to walk, I’m performing that song in New York!”

Vybz Kartel stepped back into the world last summer, freed after spending 13 years behind bars for a murder conviction that was ultimately overturned. His time in prison took a toll, with a Graves’ disease diagnosis and thyroid problems reshaping his health and appearance. When online critics began targeting his changed looks in post-release photos, Cardi B was among the first to shut down the ridicule.

Cardi took then to X, voicing, “I do not play about f—king Vybz Kartel.” “When I see y’all talking about f—king Vybz Kartel, I be getting upset ’cause, like, not too much. Not too f—king much. Mind your f—king business. I do not play about f—king Vybz Kartel, b—h. At all. At all. I do not, I do not, I do not.”

Several months after, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper remained a steadfast supporter of Kartel. In an Instagram livestream, she shared, “I want to make the most perfect, beautiful, amazing song with Vybz Kartel.” “He’s really my favorite artist. He’s literally my No. 1 artist. My favorite artist in the whole wide world.” In another live session, Cardi told Latin Grammy-nominated producer Rvssian to “cook up the best motherf—king song” for her and Worl’ Boss.”

Kartel and Cardi may unveil more about their highly anticipated collaboration at next month’s Grammys (February 2), where both are up for prestigious awards. Kartel seeks his first-ever Grammy in the best reggae album category with Party With Me (2024), while Cardi is vying for best rap performance for her chart-topping single “Enough (Miami)” (No. 9) from the 2024 Billboard Hot 100.

The ceremony is set to take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, airing live on Sunday, February 2.
