According to Page Six MTV quietly removed the Michael Jackson’s name from the Video Vanguard Award during the show this week.
While everyone knows the prominent award was named after the King of Pop in 1991 because of his amazing talents, and film short music videos; Page Six claims MTV decided to remove Jackson’s name amidst the accusations made in the Leaving Neverland documentary.
Regardless of the change, when Missy Elliott accepted the MTV VMA’s Video Vanguard award, she made sure to include Michael Jackson’s name stating: “The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award means so much to me.” Elliott also went on to show love to love to Janet Jackson, who is one of her great friends.
MTV has yet to make any comments on the news.
