The band is back together.

After a long hiatus and several TV projects, the Wu-Tang Clan is returning with a brand new album. Helmed by Mathematics, an acclaimed producer and long-time Wu affiliate, he managed to pull together each member for their first project since The Saga Continues in 2017.

The RZA, Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Cappadonna, U-God, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, and The GZA all contributed to Black Samson, The Bastard Swordsman From The, Wu-Tang, The Saga Continues Collection. Just like the original “Saga Continues.”  Slated to drop in April, Mathematics produced the entire project and is labeled as a joint effort with him and the acclaimed collective.

In an interview with Variety, Raekwon lauded Mathematics for legendary production.

“You can be sure of a great body of work,” Raekwon said.“Mathematics is a top-tier producer who makes music with his soul attached.”

Mathematics, who also designed the Wu-Tang logo, spoke about the inspiration behind the album title.

“Well, the album has a certain feel to it. It’s an homage to Blaxploitation movies. You have movies like “Black Samson,” “Black Caesar” and “Super Fly.” Those are the types of movies that I was raised on in the 1970s,” Math said. ‘The Bastard Swordsman’ part of [the title], is an ode to the old Karate flicks because that’s what I grew up on as well. With me as well as all of Wu-Tang, that’s something we had in common. We all loved the old Karate flicks. ‘Bastard Swordsman’ is one of my favorites.”

Launching his career as the GZA’s DJ in 1990, Math was around to see the meteoric rise of the Wu-Tang. Eventually, he was named the official DJ for the entire group and holds the position to this day.

In 1995, Math began producing tracks on various Wu projects and has released several albums since his debut LP in 2003.

Method Man says the album features some of Mathematics’s best work.

“Mathematics adds another chamber to ‘The Saga Continues’ collection. I’m proud of him,” Meth said. “Following his last solid outing, this one looks to be another banger for the history books!”

“I think ‘Black Sampson’ is some of Math’s best work,” Masta Killa added. “It displays his growth and development as a producer with the selection of music that he has arranged.”

With the release,  there will be 5,000 two LP Vinyl editions of the project issued on April 12 to coincide with Record Store Day.

The LP is the first to feature all Wu-Tang members since 2017.
