While updating fans on his anticipated Bully album, Ye thanked his oldest daughter, North West, for helping him rediscover his love for music again. On Tuesday (Jan. 21), Ye shared a heartfelt letter to his eldest daughter, offering insight into her creative journey and providing an update on her debut project, tentatively titled Elementary School Dropout.

“This little girl made me love music again,” Ye wrote alongside a black-and-white photo of North. “She asked me to make beats for her. I got back on the ASR, chopped up beats for her album, and crafted every beat with my bare hands for BULLY.”

In another post, he shared a video of North, just 11 years old, expertly chopping beats on an Ensoniq ASR-10, a clear testament to her burgeoning talent.

Fans were first introduced to the father-daughter duo in 2024 with “TALKING,” a track that debuted at No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100. This milestone made North one of the youngest artists to achieve such recognition.

By March, she officially announced Elementary School Dropout—a playful nod to Ye’s iconic The College Dropout—at a listening event for VULTURES 2 in Phoenix, Arizona. North also lent her vocals to “BOMB,” a standout track from Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s collaborative project, appearing in the song’s AI-generated music video alongside her sister, Chicago West, and artist Yuno Miles.

Though Elementary School Dropout has yet to receive a release date, Ye is reportedly sparing no effort to ensure its success. Justin Laboy revealed to TMZ that the rapper is investing heavily in the project, from top-tier production to expert engineers.

“I think she’s got it,” Laboy remarked. “She just naturally loves it—it’s in her genetics or something. She’s doing 10 freestyles a day, getting her friends involved, and piecing together the songs herself.”

Meanwhile, excitement continues to build for BULLY, another project North has been closely involved with. In October 2024, Ye unveiled its cover, a striking image captured by renowned Japanese photographer Daidō Moriyama. Though details remain scarce, tracks like “BEAUTY AND THE BEAST” and “PREACHER MAN” were teased around the same time, hinting at what’s to come.

North West is proving to be a rising star with an extraordinary lineage and a natural passion for music. With her father’s mentorship and her own creative vision, she’s poised to carve out a path that’s entirely her own.
