Young Thug, recently released from jail, marks his return with “Dum, Dumb & Dumber,” a standout track from Lil Baby‘s latest album, WHAM.
According to reports, the song also features a powerful verse from Atlanta legend Future. As he delivers compelling bars layered over Wheezy’s hard-hitting production, Thug offers his first reflection on his two-and-a-half years of incarceration. On the track, he raps, “Yeah, n-gga, King Spider back / I don’t even believe I was locked up, for real, for real / I was havin’ my way the whole time, fool, you know what I’m sayin’?”
In November, not long after negotiating a plea deal to resolve his lengthy YSL RICO case, Young Thug offered an early glimpse of “Dum, Dumb & Dumber.” Taking aim at his former collaborator and the snitching accusations surrounding Gunna, Thug posted on X, “Wham, let’s drop one on these rats, Peter.” Lil Baby seemingly responded via his Instagram Stories, sharing a video set to the backdrop of his 2020 collaboration with Thug, “We Should.” He then followed up with a heartfelt message for Thugger, saying, “I missed you mf!!!! Welcome home my brudda! Thank God you able to get back to your fam in good health and spirits! Wish ya none but billions jack! #whatwhamsaysgoes.”
Lil Baby Recalls Narrow Escape from Arrest Before Thug’s May 2022 Incident
In a startling revelation, Lil Baby shared that he was mere hours away from joining Young Thug behind bars during his May 2022 arrest, having been at his mansion shortly before the incident unfolded.
During a conversation with Lil Yachty on the A Safe Place podcast, Baby shared, “What people don’t know and I don’t even tell people — I could’ve been with him. I was at his house the same day. Thank God I just happened to leave two hours early.” “That’ll fuck your head up more than anything. Like, ‘Damn, I gotta see bro go through this [and] that shit really could have been me.’” He continued, “A n-gga had to change they whole life around. [This is] not even my rap peer; this is my everyday [friend]. These are n-ggas I grew up with.”
Among those arrested alongside Thug was Gunna, another YSL artist, whose involvement in a plea deal in late 2022 has left him grappling with accusations of cooperation with authorities, including strong criticism from Lil Baby.
