Young Thug has responded to the efforts of Atlanta prosecutors aiming to revoke his probation, following accusations that he made threatening statements on social media. On April 2, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office filed a motion requesting that Thug, born Jeffery Williams, be sent to prison, claiming that his recent online comments posed a significant danger to public safety. The rapper is currently serving a 15-year probation sentence as part of a plea deal related to a RICO case involving him and members of his Young Stoner Life (YSL) collective.

Prosecutors contend that Thug’s social media post directed at Detective Marissa Viverito, who is currently testifying in a major gang-related murder case, included threats. In a now-deleted message, he referred to Viverito as the “biggest liar in the DA office,” which the prosecution claims led to threats against her and her family.

The motion further suggests that Thug’s social media post led to the publication of Viverito’s and her relatives’ personal information online, exacerbating safety concerns. The filing urges the court to act swiftly, requesting that Thug’s probation be revoked and that he be taken into custody immediately.

In response to these allegations, Young Thug denied any intent to harm anyone, posting on social media platform X, “I don’t make threats to people. I’m a good person; I would never condone anyone threatening anyone, nor would I ever participate in such behavior. I’m all about peace and love.”

Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, criticized the motion, calling it baseless. “While any form of intimidation is unacceptable, Jeffery Williams has done nothing wrong. We look forward to challenging this motion,” Steel said. If the court rules to revoke his probation, Thug could face a lengthy prison sentence. A hearing to discuss the motion has yet to be scheduled.
