Kendrick Lamar leads the way as one of the biggest artists of this generation.
He is taking that position to try and bring some knowledge to some of the next artists coming up. “Mumble rap” is the name given to some of the new music being released by artists such as 21 Savage, Lil Yachty, and XXXtentacion.
It is suggested that Eminem’s latest single was inspired by the hip hop sub-genre, and now Kendrick Lamar puts his two cents on these new artists in a brand new interview as Forbes 30 under 30 cover artist.
“I can’t shun a lot of the artists that may not be a Kendrick Lamar,” he said “I tell them every time I see them … be yourself and do what you do but also know who laid down the groundwork. Don’t go on your interviews and dis them and say you don’t like them and you don’t care for them. That’s your opinion, that’s cool but you have to respect them.”
