Ever since her speech at Golden Globes, fans and people looking for some type of hope asked Oprah to run for president in 2020.
Since those calls, she has been pretty quiet as her partner Steadman and best friend Gayle King both fueled the conversation and denied that she is looking at a serious run.
The time for waiting is over. She finally gave her fans an outright answer on the possibilities to see her on the ballot in the year 2020 in an interview with InStyle.
“I’ve always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not. And so it’s not something that interests me,” Winfrey said. “I don’t have the DNA for it.”
She later continued.
“Gayle [King] — who knows me as well as I know myself practically — has been calling me regularly and texting me things, like a woman in the airport saying, ‘When’s Oprah going to run?’” she said. “So Gayle sends me these things, and then she’ll go, ‘I know, I know, I know! It wouldn’t be good for you — it would be good for everyone else.’ I met with someone the other day who said that they would help me with a campaign. That’s not for me.”
So there goes that.
