Now, this was out of the ordinary.

Alicia Keys took to Twitter over the weekend to co-sign the late XXXTentacion who was shot and killed last June. In the now deleted post, the “If I Ain’t Got You” singer posted a video with her and her son Egypt playing the piano and singing to one of the late rapper’s songs. In the caption, she wrote, “such a vibe!! Big love to the talented @xxxtentacion !! Gone too soon.”

A few hours later she deleted the post after receiving tons of backlash. Around the time of XXX’s death, he was awaiting trial for a domestic violence case. In light of the R. Kelly documentary and the #MeToo movement, people were wondering why she would choose NOW to praise XXX. Our very own Ebro raised the question on Twitter, can you separate the art from the person?
