Barack Obama Didn’t Go ‘Crazy’ Over His Daughters Dating Life

WASHINGTON, DC - NOVEMBER 25: U.S. President Barack Obama delivers remarks with his daughters Sasha (L) and Malia during the annual turkey pardoning ceremony in the Rose Garden at the White House November 25, 2015 in Washington, DC. In a tradition dating back to 1947, the president pardons a turkey, sparing the tom -- and his alternate -- from becoming a Thanksgiving Day feast. This year, Americans were asked to choose which of two turkeys would be pardoned and to cast their votes on Twitter.

Barack Obama is getting used to being an empty-nester.

While on a promo tour for her new book, “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times,” Michelle Obama opened up about her family’s life, and watching her two daughters, Malia and Sasha grow up.

The former first lady speaks about her daughter’s dating life, and how important it is to explore their options. “I think it’s wonderful. I want them to know what they want and who they are in a relationship. And that takes trying on some people.”

Michelle also says her hubby, Barack, is a-okay with his daughters dating. She claims he’s “good with it.” She explains, “look, they are 24 and 21. They were in high school. They went to prom. They’ve lived life. And he’s learned how to be a concerned Black father, but not crazy.”

She goes on to say, “they’re doing great. Proud of them. They survived eight years growing up in one of the harshest spotlights there is. And they are good, decent, normal young women who are trying to be impactful in the world, and they are the best of friends. Couldn’t ask for anything else.”
