This is huge!

Cardi B has made history. The Bronx native was honored with the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year award. The 34th annual Rhythm and Soul Awards took place last night (6/20). This marks Cardi the first female rapper to ever be awarded with this.

Presumably still on a high from her Grammy award, the Bodak Yellow rapper gave this acceptance speech, “I just want to say I’m very grateful,” she said. “Sometimes I feel like I’m not doing too much because when it comes to female rappers, it’s like you’re never doing too much or they’re always pitting you against another female rapper. People on my team are like ‘Cardi, you’re crazy. You won a Grammy. Cardi, all your songs are charting.’”

Congratulations, Bardi! The honor comes from songs such as “Bodak Yellow,” “Bartier Cardi” (featuring 21 Savage), and ”I Like It” (featuring J. Balvin and Bad Bunny).
