Brooklyn rapper Casanova remains behind bars, fighting RICO charges.

DJ Akademiks shared a screenshot of Cas on a jail call with Bronx rapper Lil Tjay. Cas wrote, “Lil Tjay, thanks for not forgetting about me,” on the post’s text. Unfortunately, there isn’t any audio, so it’s unclear what the two artists spoke about. Take a look:

In late 2020, Casanova surrendered to the FBI after he was named in a RICO indictment. Prosecutors alleged the “Don’t Run” rapper led the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation Bloods gang. While Cas was in this role, they believe he directed a conspiracy that spanned from New York to Florida. Rolling Stone points out, “the conspiracy ran from 2004 to 2020 in New York City and upstate, prosecutors alleged.”

Casanova is accused of being involved in drug trafficking and murder but denied it. In May, Casanova pled guilty to federal drug and racketeering charges. NBC points out he admitted to committing a series of crimes while leading an interstate gang.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan said Casanova admitted to a July 2020 shooting in Florida, an Aug. 2018 robbery in New York City, and trafficking more than 100 kilograms of marijuana.

His next court date is slated for December. He’s facing a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum sentence of 60 years.
