If you’re wondering why Doja Cat is trending today, this time it’s because of Nas. The Queens rapper dropped his new single “Ultra Black” featuring Hit-Boy. In the song, he mentions Doja’s name, and some people online feel it was a shot at the pop singer/rapper.
On the song, Nas is very proud to be black, hence the title. In the lyrics, he raps,
“We goin’ ultra black, I gotta toast to that
We don’t fold or crack (We goin’)
Occasion, we rose to that, fuck goin’ postal (Uh) We goin’ ultra black.”
In the controversial line, Nas says,
“We goin’ ultra black, unapologetically black/The opposite of Doja Cat, Michael Blackson black.”
Earlier this year, Doja received negative backlash after old videos resurfaced and people didn’t like comments she made comments about her 4C hair texture, and for her participation in alt-right racists chat rooms.
Doja’s mom is Jewish while her dad is a South African actor, producer, and composer, Dumisani Dlamini. Doja’s dad left her mom during her childhood so although Doja is half black, she was robbed of her chance to get to know that side of her culture since her father wasn’t around. Although she was “canceled” for a moment, people, including our very own Ebro came to her defense.
Instead of canceling Doja Cat for having some weird fetish and identity issues
possible to uplift her and show her that being Black is beautiful?
Im assuming she had no Black culture in her suburban wasteland and her white Mom couldn’t help her.
