On Wednesday (Feb. 15), McDonald’s announced that it will be launching plant-based McNuggets in more than 1,400 restaurants across Germany starting next week.

The fast food chain partnered with Beyond Meat to produce the McPlant nuggets, which are made from corn, peas, wheat, and tempura batter. It will be the second plant-based item that McDonald’s has offered. The McPlant burger is now a permanent menu item in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria the Netherlands, and now Germany because it will be added to the menu as well.

Germany will be the first market to test the newest offering of nuggets. Availability of both the McPlant nuggets and burger in future markets will depend on customer demand, McDonald’s said.

The McDonald’s in the United Stated ended a test of the McPlant burger last summer without announcing any future plans for its sale. Generally, European customers are more receptive to McDonald’s plant-based meat products than those in the U.S.
