Another day, another back and forth between women artists. This time it’s Nicki Minaj and Latto’s turn.

The Twitter world was lit on fire early Friday morning (Oct. 14), as Nicki Minaj and Latto got into it with a back and forth that included video clips and DM conversations.

It all began after the Recording Academy’s rap committee decided to move her latest single “Super Freaky Girl” out of the Rap Category in the Grammys, but instead will be considered under the pop category.

The Rick James 1981 single “Super Freak” sampled track has spent eight weeks on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart as of this day.

Following the reported decision, Nicki Minaj went on Instagram Live to discuss her displeasure with the decision with her fans on the platform.

Minaj then went on Twitter to express her displeasure, while comparing her track “Super Freaky Girl” to Latto’s “Big Energy” which topped at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and also reached number one on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, and included a remix from Mariah Carey.

“I have no prob being moved out the RAP category as long as we r ALL being treated FAIRLY. If SFG has 2B moved out RAP then so does Big Energy! ANY1 who says diff is simply a Nicki hater or a troll. I’d actually LUV 2 c a more street record win- male OR female!”

This resulted in a tweet from the self proclaimed “Queen of Da Souf”, which sparked the back and forth.

“Damn I can’t win for losing… all these awards/noms I can’t even celebrate,” she wrote. The nominations she addresses are of 3 American Music Awards that was recently announced.

The two traded tweets soon afterwards addressing alleged subliminal tweets, and comments against each other. Nicki Minaj afterward deleted her tweets and replies to the rapper.

This then resulted in Nicki Minaj starting to discuss recent private direct messages in which the Atlanta native asked the Queens native to jump on a feature in one of her songs, including “Big Energy”.

Then the conversation suddenly took a darker turn when it comes to rape. Minaj’s brother Jelani Maraj is currently awaiting trial after being charged with predatory sex assault against a child, and course of sexual conduct and acting in a manner likely to injure a child for alleged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old. He has pleaded not guilty. Minaj is also married to Kenneth Petty who was convicted of attempted rape in 1995, and recently found legal trouble after failing to register as a sex offender after moving to another state.

This resulted in Latto releasing parts of her conversation with Nicki Minaj on Twitter.

Nicki Minaj has been in the background in multiple back and forth’s in recent memory, more recently reengaging with Cardi B on Twitter following a back and forth between JT and the Bronx native. This was after a back and forth between Akbar V and Cardi B days before.

The Grammys are set to release their nominations on November 15.
