Alabama prosecutors have decided to drop the manslaughter charge against a woman who lost her pregnancy after she was shot at.

Late June it was reported that back in December, Marshae Jones got into a heated fight outside of a Dollar Tree about the father of her unborn child. She was arguing with Ebony Jemison, who was ultimately arrested for shooting Jones during the argument. The situation took a controversial turn when authorities charged Jones with manslaughter after her 5-month-old unborn baby was shot and killed.

The story followed a “storm of public outcry,” reported on NYDN. The D.A said it “wasn’t in their best interest to charge Jones.”

They initially wanted to charge Jones because she allegedly initiated the fight.
