One year ago today, Chicago rapper King Von was tragically shot and killed.

Atlanta Police Department says that “King Von was shot and killed during a shooting and we are seeing rumors being spread indicating he was shot and killed by APD officers. At this time, our investigators believe Mr. Bennett was shot during the initial shootout between the two groups of males, prior to police responding and attempting to stop the shooting. Additionally, Mr. Bennett was not located at the scene, but arrived at a hospital shortly after the shooting, via private vehicle. The investigation into this incident remains open and very active.”

King Von was most known for his hit single “Crazy Story” and being close with popular rapper, Lil Durk.

Von’s crew won’t let his name die down. According to recent reports, a new posthumous album from Von is set to be released before the end of the year. The news intensified after DJ Bandz, Lil Durk‘s official DJ, confirmed it via Twitter say, “all these albums droppin wack af…. Von album #4thQuarter.”

Lil Durk also makes sure he keeps his brother’s name alive by including him in his lyrics. In the songs “Who Want Smoke” remix, Durk raps, “They be on my page like, ‘Slide for Von,’ I know they trollin’ me / Outside what y’all big homie be on, I keep them folks with me / Got it back in blood, y’all just don’t know, that’s how it ‘posed to be / Call him for a feature just to kill him ’cause we know he sweet!” Durk raps.

May King Von continue to rest peacefully.
