For those of you who did not boycott Starbucks, on May 29th all of the U.S Company owned locations will be closed to train their employees on racial bias.
According to reports, over 175,000 employees will be provided with this afternoon of training amidst the Philadelphia Starbucks incident, which led to two Black men being arrested for not placing an order.
The CEO of Starbucks Kevin Johnson stated:
“I’ve spent the last few days in Philadelphia with my leadership team listening to the community, learning what we did wrong and the steps we need to take to fix it,
“While this is not limited to Starbucks, we’re committed to being a part of the solution,” he said. “Closing our stores for racial bias training is just one step in a journey that requires dedication from every level of our company and partnerships in our local communities.”
The manager who called the police on the two Black gentlemen who were wrongfully arrested was let go, and the victims have reportedly agreed to meet with the CEO, Kevin Johnson.
Here’s a reminder of what happened at the Starbucks locations in Philadelphia:

DAMN #Repost @shaunking ・・・ Dear @starbucks, This is shameful. Your managers should be fired for having these two young Black men wrongly arrested. And you need to offer restitution to these men immediately. Here’s the quote from the original person (thank you Melissa) who posted this on Twitter: “The police were called because these men hadn’t ordered anything. They were waiting for a friend to show up, who did as they were taken out in handcuffs for doing nothing. All the other white ppl are wondering why it’s never happened to us when we do the same thing.”
