Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have another Verzuz in store for the people!

This time, they’re switching things up on us.

For the first time ever in Verzuz history, singer D’Angelo will battle it out against “friends,” instead of one person. It’s not clear who the other artists will be, Hip Hop DX notes it could be “frequent collaborators” he worked with like Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Raphael Saadiq, Questlove, Bilal, Q-Tip and Common just to name a few but no official details were given.

Swizz and Timbo made the announcement via Instagram on Valentine’s Day. The event will take place at the Apollo in Harlem, NY on the 27th of this month at 8p.m. E.T. This is a full circle moment for the neo-soul living legend. He began his singing career when he was a teen performing at the Apollo during their amateur night.

D’Angelo said on Live,

“We just wanna give some love to the people man and reach back to the community that brought me to where I am, and have some fun doing it.” He continued,

“And the Apollo, that’s my house. That’s where I got my start, I started competing there. I did Amateur Night three times. I was 16, and twice when I was 17. A lot of people don’t know, but that’s where I really got my start, so it’s like going back home. It’s fitting.”
