Tory Lanez is speaking on his legal case with Megan Thee Stallion.

The Canadian rapper appeared on an episode of Off The Record with DJ Akademics. During the conversation, Tory spoke on the 2020 shooting and why he’s been “quiet” about it lately. Tory explained to the host that he’s intentionally been quiet because there hasn’t been a right “time and place” to talk about it. Tory said,

“It’s three words brother: time and place. There’s gonna be a time and a place for that. But I do know this is not the time and place. The internet, like I said, is not a therapist. It doesn’t matter what I say to those people online. Until it is in that black and white it doesn’t matter anyway, so there will be a time and a place.”

Tory continued,

“The difference between a lot of artists and me is they get so fed up with the ‘Ahh nah!’ And the screaming at them … and the accusation or whatever it is that they’re going through, that they feel the need to express themselves to people who do not know them. There is a time and a place brother when for those people who I do not know and do not owe any explanation, will get an explanation.”

Akademics asked Tory how he has been able to be so patient. The Sorry 4 What rapper responded,

“The difference between a lot of artists and me is they get so fed up with the ‘Ahh nah!’ And the screaming at them … and the accusation or whatever it is that they’re going through, that they feel the need to express themselves to people who do not know them. There is a time and a place brother when for those people who I do not know and do not owe any explanation, will get an explanation.” He continued,

“In a lot of instances and a lot of situations what people don’t realize is that one thing connects to another, and when you start talking about one thing people then connect it to something else, and sometimes, most of the time, those things have no correlation to each other.” Then Tory’s tone got a little more serious, as the situation isn’t something to joke about. He said,

“I am in an open case and maybe I make this shit look really beautiful, but I am facing 24 years, I’m making shit look beautiful, don’t I? But guys, I am actively facing 24 years next month. Like this is no play play situation. I’ve been in this for three years. I’ve never played internet games with you guys. I’m not gonna start now.”

Take a look:

Tory is charged with one felony count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm for allegedly shooting Megan. The Los Angeles District Attorneys’ office also charged the Toronto rapper with personal firearm use and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He pleaded not guilty, and the trial was supposed to start in September but got pushed back after a judge granted Tory’s legal team a pushback because his lawyer, Shawn Holley, is dealing with other high-profile cases. The trial will start between November 28 and December 8.

Kelsey Harris, Megan’s ex-BFF, who was there on the night of the shooting, was ordered to testify. She’s under a subpoena and must return to court on December 9. Jury selection goes down on December 5.
