John Boyega is officially entering his family-man era. The Star Wars actor recently revealed that he secretly married nearly two years ago and is expecting his first child, a baby boy.
The 43-year-old British-Nigerian actor shared the surprising news during an October 4 interview with The Guardian. The conversation centered on his late childhood friend Damilola Taylor and the documentary Damilola: The Untold Story.
Boyega confirmed he has been married for “coming up two years now,” although he declined to identify his wife.
However, speculation has linked the Hollywood star to actress Tae Heckard, whose Instagram biography reportedly reads “Tae Boyega.” Neither has publicly confirmed their marriage.
Boyega described their intimate wedding ceremony with a playful reference to Braveheart.
“Will you come with me?” he recalled, mimicking someone planting a sword into the ground.

The actor also revealed that he owns two wedding bands, including one purchased during an impromptu shopping trip.
“This is the one we decided to pick up spontaneously because I just wanted the ring on my finger, so we went to Walmart to get this,” Boyega explained. “It was a lovely trip to Walmart. Shout out, Walmart Canoga Park!”
Although the couple skipped a traditional Nigerian wedding, Boyega hopes to celebrate his heritage with a future ceremony.
“We both like the idea of celebrating something established, rather than celebrating the entry,” he explained. “And by then, we’ll have to shut Nigeria down!”
The biggest revelation came when Boyega announced his impending fatherhood.
“We got a baby cooking,” he shared, confirming that a son is on the way.
The actor expressed excitement about building his family while continuing his Hollywood career.
“My life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family. It’s been so nice with the timing.”
For Boyega, marriage and fatherhood represent a deeply meaningful new chapter, even as he keeps his relationship largely private.
