Amanda Seales addressed her relationship with Issa Rae during a recent episode of “Club Shay-Shay.

While on the podcast, Seales opened up about her time on the HBO hit show “Insecure” and working with Issa Rae. “I’ve never talked about this publicly because it has always been incredibly important to me to protect Issa. Because I know that Issa is doing something within this business that so few people get to do,” Seales told host Shannon Sharpe.

“I’m not interested in getting a $100 million production deal. That’s not a life that I want for myself. But I know that her role is very important.”

Elsewhere in the conversation Seales explained, “there’s a whole narrative that is completely false that people keep spinning,” Seales said. “They keep saying that I’m this mean girl on this set, that I harmed these people on this set.”

“I don’t even have the capacity to be the mean girl here ‘cause you can fire me,” Seales said. “So, there’s no way for me to be a mean girl in this situation. And I know some people that may buck up against, like, the confirmation bias that they’ve created, but it simply is the truth.”

Rae and Seales’ friendship seemingly took a turn after the”Black Emmys Party in 2018.” Seales’ says Rae’s publicist, Vanessa Anderson, seemingly had an issue with her at the party. When Seales told Rae about the situation- Rae seemingly ignored it, according to Seales.

The next year, 2019, Seales was not invited back to the “Black Emmys Party” and although she eventually got in- she was escorted out with the help of Anderson. Seales said Rae reached out to her following the event. “She called me and said, ‘Hey, I heard what happened this weekend. I just want you to know I have nothing to do with it,’ ” Seales said.
