Ava DuVernay resparked the controversy behind the Central Park Five with the release of the Netflix docuseries When They See Us.
Yesterday (June 18), journalism April Ryan asked President Donald Trump if he wanted to apologize for any harm done when he placed ads in New York City newspapers calling for the death penalty for the Central Park Five who were later proven to not have commited assault and rape of Trisha Meili.

Not so surprisingly he decided to stick with his narrative years after the boys were released.
“You have people on both sides of that,” he said. “They admitted their guilt. If you look at Linda Fairstein and if you look at some of the prosecutors, they think that the city never should have settled that case — so we’ll leave it at that.”
