Billboard has named Beyoncé the greatest pop star of the 21st century.
The publication said she’s “the century’s biggest pop star based on her full 25 years of influence, evolution and impact.”
“The reasons why Beyoncé captured the top spot on our list were beyond numerous. Ranging from her 25 years of timeless albums and singles to her incalculable industry impact and influence on other artists, to her peerless raw talents as a singer and performer.’” Billboard said.
“Few artists this period can match her in any of the most critical basic categories of pop stardom. Commercial success, performance abilities, critical acclaim and accolades, industry influence, iconic cultural moments – and absolutely no one can equal her in all of them,” Billboard continued.
In an Instagram post, Billboard hailed “Queen Bey” as the quintessential innovator in music with her one-of-a-kind style.
“Beyoncé has proven to be a performer and creator whose commitment to innovation, evolution, and all-around excellence has made her the bar against which all other pop stars this century have long been measured,” the post read.
“Billboard looks back at the century in @beyonce, based on her full 25 years of influence, evolution, and impact, the post continued.
Without question, Beyoncé’s impeccable resume has earned her the prestigious ranking. She currently has 24 top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including nine number-one songs.
Beyoncé’s latest project is a trilogy beginning with Renaissance (2022) and her latest release is the country-Americana album, Cowboy Carter. Both albums went to number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
Beyoncé has sold more than 200 million records worldwide and is one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
Rounding out the list is Taylor Swift came in second place, followed by Rihanna, Drake, and Lady Gaga. Beyoncé’s husband, Jay Z, made the list at number 16.
