DaniLeigh’s legal troubles from a 2022 hit-and-run have resurfaced with the release of new arrest footage. In February, the singer was sentenced to five years probation following her conviction for hitting a 17-year-old on a moped near Miami Beach. The accident left the young rider with serious injuries, and DaniLeigh faced multiple charges, including a DUI causing serious injury. She pled no contest to two of these charges, resulting in her probation sentence. The other charges, which involve leaving the scene and an additional DUI, will be dropped if she completes her probation without violations.
The newly leaked bodycam footage, which surfaced on August 23, provides a detailed look at the moments following the accident. In the video, an intoxicated DaniLeigh is seen arguing with an officer while being placed in handcuffs. “I’m a singer, you can’t arrest me,” she protests, to which the officer responds, “Okay?”
The footage reveals that DaniLeigh was driving under the influence when she struck the scooter, causing significant harm to the rider. Despite attempts to flee, she was eventually pulled over. When questioned by the officer, DaniLeigh denies hitting anyone and insists, “I’m an artist. I’m a R&B singer and you’re trying to arrest me. What’s going on?”
As the arrest unfolds, the video captures police interviewing a witness and briefly features Quavo, who asks about the situation before being told to leave. DaniLeigh fails the subsequent field sobriety tests and is arrested, crying as she insists, “I didn’t hit nobody.”
In response to the Hit-and-run incident, DaniLeigh’s attorney, Michael Catalano, claimed that the accident was primarily the victim’s fault. He expressed DaniLeigh’s regret and apology for the situation, emphasizing that she was not chiefly responsible for the accident.
