Drake took a jab at LeBron James by tweaking the lyrics to “Nonstop” during the kickoff of his Anita Max Win Tour in Australia.
In the 2018 track, Drake referenced the NBA star, rapping, “How I go from 6 to 23 like I’m LeBron?” During his Perth show on Tuesday (February 4), he slipped in a slight lyrical shift—a move that hinted at tensions brewing over the past year. Then, Drizzy fired off, “How do I go from 6 to 23 but not LeBron, man?”
Drake’s Latest Diss: Subtle Shots at LeBron, Loyalty Under Fire in Feud with Kendrick
Nonetheless, Drake’s newest shot follows closely after what appeared to be a swipe at the Lakers star on “Fighting Irish Freestyle.” The song, named after LeBron’s high school team, delivers a series of jabs at the NBA legend. The rapper seems to nod to LeBron’s presence at Kendrick Lamar‘s Pop Out concert last summer, as he spits, “The world fell in love with the gimmicks, even my brothers got tickets / Seemed like they loved every minute / Just know this shit is personal to us, and it wasn’t just business.”
Drake also hints at the deep bond they once shared: “‘Member we tradin’ watches? I gave you that Arabic dial, you gave me a numbered edition / You would even check up on my son like a pediatrician / Sure convinced the gang this shit was rooted in love when it isn’t / Show me how different we are, there’s blessings in juxtaposition.”
Furthermore, Drake seemingly calls out LeBron for betrayal amid his feud with Kendrick. He raps, “I guess now you boys gotta abandon your summer tradition / Cold shoulders I gave in the Hamptons, it come with the distance / Figured we was always gon’ be close, like ovens and kitchens / I was sadly mistaken, the loyalty wasn’t a given.” As the night came to an end, the 6 God left the audience with a bold message, stating, “My name is Drake. I started doing music in 2008. I come all the way from Toronto, Canada. The year is now 2025, and no matter what, Drizzy Drake is very much alive and that’s all thanks to you. I love you.”
