Social media was on fire Friday morning after Kendrick Lamar surprised hip-hop with another diss track towards Drake, titled “6:16 In L.A.”

“Kendrick Lamar has people dissecting a diss song at 6 a.m. PST. I’m supposed to get ready for work,” wrote Carl Chery, Spotify’s Head of Urban Music.

The new diss, which arrives immediately after Wednesday’s “Euphoria,” is filled with diabolical verses, revelations, and implications. Lamar raps, “Are you finally ready to play have-you-ever? Let’s see / Have you ever thought that OVO was workin’ for me?”

He continued: “Everyone inside your team is whispering that you deserve it / Can’t “Toosie Slide” up out of this one, it’s just gon’ resurface / Every dog gotta have his day, now live in your purpose / It was fun until you start to put money in the streets / Then lost money, ’cause they came back with no receipts”

Fans investigated the song’s claims and credits immediately after Kendrick shared it on social media. Social media reactions include cryptic information about the song’s production being handled by Jack Antonoff, who is known for producing Taylor Swift’s music. This is in reference to Drake’s diss track “Taylor Made Freestyle.”

“Kendrick’s new Drake diss track “6:16 In LA” was produced by Jack Antonoff, aka Taylor Swift’s producer,” tweets @RealAlmightee on X. “So this track literally is Taylor Made. Okay Kendrick I see you.”

Kendrick’s former label, Top Dawg Entertainment, supported his new diss with a simple morning gesture. In response to the song’s release, Punch, TDE executive, tweeted, “Good Morning.”

Kash Doll, the rapper reference in the song, shared a confused reaction to being mentioned on X. She tweets, “I’m tryna understand the lyrics lol where the music lyric geniuses at… Ion kno I just kno my song came out at midnight thanks everyone go stream my shit too!”

Memes and clips from classic films like Rush Hour and Friday flooded social media displaying fan’s reactions. One user commented on the track, tweeting, “Kendrick Lamar just did a Back-to-Back on Drake. With a Black Maybach glove as the cover. With a title similar to Drake timestamps in whatever country or state. And then questions OVO loyalty to Drake,” while another user said, “i just wanna say seeing Kendrick Lamar this active is crazy cuz of the drought we been in the past decade. Him dropping was like a once-in-a-blue-moon-type ordeal, now here we are with him dropping randomly during the week on YT and IG, no fcks given.”

Renowned journalist and author Sowmya Krishnamurthy calls Kendrick’s new diss the most viscous due to its layers. She tweets, “This might be the most viscous “6:16 in LA” numerology reference. Corinthians 6:16: “Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body?” S/o @UrSongSucks for the biblical suggestion. Kendrick Lamar is different.”

Akademiks streamed his reaction to the new diss, saying, “N*gga what?! How I compromised? What he saying ‘F*ck me for?”
