JAY-Z has taken legal action against the woman who anonymously accused him of rape, along with her attorneys, Tony Buzbee and David Fortney, alleging they orchestrated an “evil conspiracy” to extort him with “fabricated” claims after abruptly withdrawing the incendiary lawsuit.
The suit asserts the woman admitted to JAY-Z’s lawyers that she fabricated allegations of being raped by the rapper in 2000 at age 13. Diddy, also accused of assault, was listed as a defendant in her now-dismissed case. “Doe has now voluntarily admitted directly to representatives of Mr. Carter [JAY-Z] that the story brought before the world in court and on global television was just that: a false, malicious story,” JAY’s filing states. “She has admitted that Mr. Carter did not assault her; and that indeed it was Buzbee himself — whom she met for the first time at a coffee shop in Houston on the day of her maliciously false NBC News interview — who pushed her to go forward with the false narrative of the assault by Mr. Carter in order to leverage a maximum payday.”
JAY-Z Sues for Defamation as Accuser Stands by Claims
JAY-Z is suing the defendants for defamation, malicious prosecution, abuse of process, and civil conspiracy—seeking both compensatory and punitive damages, including $20 million in lost business tied to the fallout of the claims.
Buzbee addressed the lawsuit, stating, “This new case which alleges the same thing as another one he pieced together and filed in Los Angeles also has no legal merit.” “Shawn Carter’s investigators have repeatedly harassed, threatened and harangued this poor woman for weeks trying to intimidate her and make her recant her story. She won’t. Instead she has stated repeatedly she stands by her claims.” He continued, “These same group of investigators have been caught on tape offering to pay people to sue me and my firm. This is just another attempt to intimidate and bully this poor woman that we will deal with in due course. We won’t be bullied or intimidated by frivolous cases.”
Speaking through TMZ, the unidentified woman refuted JAY-Z’s lawsuit, maintaining she stands by her claims while conceding earlier discrepancies. The rap mogul and his team have also been accused of harassment and pressuring her to sign an affidavit recanting her claims. JAY-Z has consistently denied the allegations.
