Singer John Legend appeared in Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly docuseries. Since the doc aired, Legend has been getting praise from fans, some even calling him a “hero.” John Legend put out a statement saying that it didn’t feel “risky” at all and that he “believe these women and don’t give a f–k about protecting a serial child rapist.”

Well, since making that a statement, Legend has been catching some backlash for a old picture that resurfaced of him and Harvey Weinstein. A twitter user tweeted the photo of the singer, his wife, and Weinstein asking  “please explain?? I dont remember you publicly denouncing this man!!!”

John Legend quickly defended himself, with a replied tweet. He responded, “I took a photo with and worked with Harvey on several occasions before his abuse was known to me and the rest of the world. Since being exposed, his company and career have rightfully been destroyed and he’s been indicted. Sounds like something that should happen to R. Kelly.”

One Twitter user tells Legend to “keep the same energy across the board.” Thoughts? See the tweet below.
