What began as a quiet direct message has unfolded into one of hip-hop’s most enduring and unexpected relationships. Lil Uzi Vert and JT, one-half of the City Girls, have turned a private connection into a bond that now spans six years—and might be headed for the aisle.

In a July 2021 interview with Cosmopolitan, JT spoke openly about their relationship. “Though we’re not married yet, it’s clear that we’re meant for each other. He’s my best friend,” she said. “Uzi is such a laid-back person, and we’ve been growing together since 2019.”

Their chemistry, according to JT, is rooted in something deeper than romance. “We look at each other and think, ‘Wow, we truly get each other. We can exist in each other’s space and still enjoy it.’ It transcends mere love.” Her laughter slipped in as she added, “We live together—why does he want me to come to the studio?”

JT envisions a private, elegant proposal—far from the spotlight

While there’s no official engagement yet, JT already has a vision for the moment. “It needs to be elegant—no chaos, no ghetto vibes,” she said. “I envision soft glam, short nails, and an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. While it doesn’t have to rival my future wedding, it should be a beautiful experience.”

More than anything, JT values discretion. “I really don’t want our engagement to be splashed across social media. I would be devastated if it ended up on The Shade Room,” she said. “I prefer it to be intimate, akin to how Beyoncé managed her own announcement—something to cherish privately before sharing it with the world.”

Now living together in 2025, the couple has weathered highs and lows behind closed doors. Through the tension and tenderness, they’ve stayed rooted in their relationship while continuing to grow as artists. JT, for her part, is carving out space as a solo act, recently linking up with KAYTRANADA for a remix of her bold single, “Ran Out.” As fans look ahead, the anticipation isn’t just for the music—but for the next quiet milestone this pair might choose to make public.
