Kelly Rowland had to put a rowdy crowd at the AMA’s in check.

The iconic singer accepted an award on behalf of Chris Brown at the American Music Awards last night (November 20). He won the Favorite Male R&B Artist award. As Kelly was giving a speech celebrating Breezy, she warned the crowd to be quiet as they were talking over her.

Kelly said, “Excuse me — chill out.” Then she went on to give CB his flowers. She said, “But I wanted to tell Chris, thank you so much for making great R&B music. And I want to tell him thank you for being an incredible performer. I’ll take this award, bring it to you. I love you. Congratulations. And congratulations to all the nominees in this category.”

Chris was slated to perform a Micheal Jackson tribute during the AMA’s, but days prior, they called off the MJ tribute, celebrating the 40th anniversary of MJ’s classic Thriller album. CB posted a seven-minute video online, showing off his dance moves from rehearsal. In the caption, CB wrote, “U SERIOS.” CB also claims AMA’s didn’t give him a reason for the cancellation.

AMA’s has yet to give a reason publicly. What do you think it is?
