Rymir Satterthwaite, who for years has claimed that Jay-Z may be his biological father, has formally withdrawn his paternity lawsuit against the rap icon. The case, first reported by Hip-Hop-N-More, centered on an alleged relationship between Jay-Z and Satterthwaite’s late mother, Wanda, dating back to the early 1990s. Jay-Z has long denied the allegations and has not spoken publicly about the matter.
It remains unclear why Satterthwaite chose to step back from legal action at this time. However, if the case was dismissed “without prejudice,” he may still have the option to refile. In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Satterthwaite challenged Jay-Z to take a DNA test. “If he is not, why can’t he prove me wrong? Go to the courtroom and do what everyone else has to do. I can handle rejection. I can endure embarrassment; I’ve been through a lot. I just can’t accept his silence. It is not fair. I am seeking truth through the courts.”
Satterthwaite also emphasized that his pursuit is not driven by resentment. “I could never hate Jay-Z; I admire him for all he has achieved. My family and I have encountered numerous difficulties over the years due to this case. Some have accused me of merely seeking Jay-Z’s wealth,” he said. “I will continue my fight until I can no longer do so. Whether it takes ten years or fifty, I will carry this burden until the end. My aim is not to defame anyone but to uncover the truth.”
Nicki Minaj Weighs In
The case recently reentered the public conversation when Nicki Minaj posted a photo on social media of Satterthwaite and Jay-Z side by side. “Oh is this why he was trending the other day? Idk. I hope all is well. To God be the glory,” she wrote. The post comes amid Minaj’s ongoing social media commentary, which has included remarks about Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, as well as artists like Megan Thee Stallion and SZA.
